Accessories Are A Girls Best Friend
The easiest way to refresh an outfit you have worn before is to accessorize! Here I paired some skinny blue jeans, black & gold tank, and black leather jacket, with some tan cut-out ankle boots. I mixed in my tortoise glasses with a bright colored scarf to wear around my neck. These accessories instantly change up the look and add some fun to an otherwise neutral outfit.
As I'm sure you guys have noticed - everything is going online!! Included in this is eye glasses! I have chosen some of my favorite glasses purchased online to show you some examples from different companies. I know a lot of you have asked which companies are best, so here are a few that I would recommend after having experienced them first hand.
Eye Buy Direct
Eye Buy Direct is a great, affordable company with tons of cute frames. Prices can range anywhere from $10 - $99 (not including lenses).
Zenni has some super fun frames and are very affordable. Generally prices range from $7 - $49 (not including lenses) so the great part about this company is if you get sick of the ones you've chosen, you can just go purchase another pair without breaking the bank!
SEE Eyewear are at a slightly higher price point typically ranging from $150 - $350 (including single vision lenses). They have lots of gorgeous frames to choose from and are a little better quality than the previously mentioned companies.
I'm sure this company is not new to any of you!! Ray-Bans have been around for a very long time. These glasses are actually sunglasses that I took the tinted lenses out and swapped them for clear prescription lenses but you can purchase actual eyeglasses frames online as well!
With St. Patty's Day coming up, I put together a couple of different outfit options for your big night out. I love to dress up but if you're not into all the tacky gear, here are some ways to still be festive.
Heading To The Pub
Here I've paired a "Kiss Me I'm Irish" tank with a black and white plaid flannel. I would wear the tank tucked into the high waisted jeans (in a messy tuck, not a tight tuck) and cuff the jeans so they sit just above the olive green booties. The clover headband is just for fun if you're feeling a little goofy!
St. Patty's Drinks
This is a more sophisticated look if you're maybe going on a date or going out for St. Patty's cocktails with friends. I paired a flowy green tank with cut off white jeans, a blue denim jacket and some nude strappy heels. To top it all off I added the animal print scarf but you could do a long gold necklace instead. Again, the green glasses are for fun if you feel like getting into the St. Patty's spirit!
These before pictures show how cluttered and overflowing this closet is! It needs a serious overhaul to add some organization and structure.
Even though this is a very small space, with a few simple tweaks we were able to revamp this closet completely! First we purged one full garbage bag of outdated, unwanted clothing which gave us a lot more room to play with. From there I separated flannel long sleeve shirts, dress shirts, and t-shirts so it is much easier to visualize an outfit before putting it on. Suits are hung in garment bags, and sweaters and shorts are folded on the top shelf. Finally I added two baskets to the shelf for miscellaneous items (ie. socks, suspenders, ties, etc).
Trade In Your Traditional Blazer For A Sequin Blazer
As you know by now I love changing things up when it comes to my wardrobe. Adding a little glamour with a sequin blazer is a fun way to revamp your look! I've paired my grey sequin jacket with black coated skinny jeans, a classic white tank, and a pale pink lightweight scarf to add just a little pop of color. I've finished the look with a bold pair of blue, silver, and bronze shoes that strap up around the ankle. You could also wear this blazer with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans and some nude pumps! Just be careful when wearing a sequin jacket that the rest of your outfit is quite subdued - you don't want to have too much razzle dazzle going on!
Choose A Color Palette For Your Frames
The first step in creating your own picture wall is to decide on a color palette that will work in your home. I chose to go with white, gold, & black. I have the majority in white just because those are my favorite against my wall color. The black and gold are mixed in sporadically to add a bit of interest to the wall.
Paint Them Yourself
I couldn't always find the "right" frame in one of my chosen colors so I decided to buy the fun textured frames I was looking for and just paint them myself!
Pick A Style Of Frames
Next, choose a theme you want to follow with your picture frames. Since I live in an old character home, I love the more antique looking frames. If you live in a modern home, maybe you would want to go with large mirrored frames for example.
Hang The Frames Sporadically
Set the tape measure aside for this project! You don't need to hang every picture perfectly - just pick a starting point and work your way out from there. I chose to start near the door frame to my living room and worked upwards. The more random the spacing, the better!
Happy Valentine's Day love birds! I picked out a few of my fav Valentines essentials...
I love a classic black ensemble but to kick it up a notch, I swapped out a traditional blazer for a sequin black blazer. I added the burgundy tank for a festive pop of color, skinny black coated jeans, and some black leather ankle booties. I accessorized with some oversized aztec earrings and a navy leather handbag. Perfect for a night out with a loved one or a first date with your dream boat <3
I am still in love with MAC Flat Out Fabulous in Retro Matte lipstick. It has been my go to lip shade whenever I am feeling a little bit sassy and want to make a statement. I love a bold red lip, especially for this special occasion. Just make sure your makeup is on the lighter side when wearing such a bright color. After all, you want your lips to do the talkin!
The Perfect Red Nails
The perfect red for Valentine's Day this year is A List by Essie. I love Essie nail polish because it is at a decent price point and the quality is quite good. You can find Essie at most drugstores!
This week I am excited to announce I have teamed up with the fabulous Becky Bayda - founder and owner of Fête Essential Oil Company! I have been obsessed with these oils for awhile now so I hope you love them as much as I do.
Valentines & Essential Oils
February is the month where we celebrate love and shower those we adore with candles and candy. If you truly want to show your affection to your one true love, why not swap out the former for a healthy alternative both for the air and for your health. Did you know that many popular brands of scented candles are made with paraffin, lead, benzene, and toluene (two known cancer-causing carcinogens)? When these substances are burned, toxins are released into the air and into your lungs, causing all sorts of health issues.
Enter, essential oils. These wonders of the earth can be used in a plethora of ways and boast heaps of benefits! When used in a diffuser, they are not burned, rather they are pumped out in billowing, fresh plumes of water vapor – which not only enriches the air but has the warm ambiance of a candle. Don’t have a diffuser? Not to worry! Essential oils are multi-faceted and can be added to a plethora of Valentine’s Day rituals like baths, massages and hitting the sheets ;)
A few of our favourite oils that invoke the feelings of love are ylang ylang, cedarwood and patchouli. Simply adding these in a 2:1:1 ratio to your bath water, to a massage or carrier oil (jojoba, almond, olive oil etc) or to a spray bottle filled with clean water for a romantic linen spray.
If health matters to you and your loved one, then essential oils are the right choice!

Take Your Daytime Look To Night On The Town
Here I chose to go with a fairly simple colour palette. If you go with black as I have done, choose pieces that have a bit of interest to them. For example, the black tank top has some lace detail as well as the blazer has leather sleeves. The scarf has the same tones of red in it as the jeggings to tie it all together. I paired the outfit with peep toe black heels and a small black shoulder bag with gold detail. This is the kind of outfit you could easily transition from the office to a night out on the town. You could switch the scarf for a gold statement necklace and swap the heels for a cute pair of ankle booties!
This week I have my beautiful momma modelling for me! She always insists she can't pull something off until I make her try it on and help her complete the look. Then she is pleasantly surprised how "it actually looks good on her" - of course it does! Love you mom xx
Keep The Rest Simple
Keep things super simple! When wearing a bold print, make sure the rest of your outfit remains on the more simple or basic side. Here my mom is wearing a classic pair of skinny black jeans with some nude loafers.
Pair With Some Key Basics
Use the bold pattern as your pop of color for your outfit. If you are going to accessorize make sure you either stay within the same color scheme or be careful to choose something that is not going to clash with your pattern. I chose this scarf because it has a lot of black to go with the rest of her outfit as well as some soft silver tones to enhance the look instead of compete with the bold print.
Don't Be Afraid To Dress Them Up
I think people get stuck in thinking bold prints are only for eccentric people or for relaxed occasions. But in reality, bold prints can be used in so many ways, its just knowing how to work with them! Here I've paired the top with a fitted black blazer, black skinny slacks and a classic pair of black pumps. This would be a great look for the office or meeting a friend out for dinner. Lilly looks professional, put together, and stylish!
